Visionary and Founding President of Bonga University with a proven track record of transformative leadership.

- I am the first to open BSc, MSc and PhD in Coffee Science in the history of Ethiopians Higher Education.

- Opened the center for the 1st time in Ethiopia( may be in Africans universities too) named " LET'S FEED AFRICA."

- Opened an Institute for the first time in Ethiopian universities named INSTITUTES OF FRUITS AND VEGETABLES.

-Achieved global recognition with a WURI(world university ranking for innovation) top 10th.

-Secured national accolades, including Best Comprehensive University (2021) ranked 1st from all comprehensive university presidents.

- Received recognition and honor from the hand of HE FDRE President, Ambassador Sahlework Zewudie, about efficient use of scarce resources(among 50 universities of public universities of Ethiopia who were evaluated, only two universities got recognition and one is Bonga Univesrity) .

-I am also recognized as a national ambassador for Green Legacy initiatives by the FDRE Minister of Education Professor Hirut Woldemariam.

-Also, recipient of the 2023 "Rising Star Award" for exemplary leadership from people to people organization of the USA.

-Moreover, HE Prime Minister Dr Abiy Ahmed, after his visit of Bonga university, accompanied with 11 Ministers, Deputy prime minister Ato Demeke Mekonen, First lady Mrs Zinash Tayachew, 3 ambassadors and 5 regional presidents, he awarded and ordered the quick construction of airport as an award for the best performance of the university and its construction is going in very fast way in 300 meter distance from the Lodge of University.

  • Provided visionary leadership and strategic direction to the University, fostering a culture of academic excellence, research innovation, and student success.
  • Served as the chief executive officer, responsible for the vision, leadership, and overall performance of the University. Key achievements included:
  • Initiated and launched BSc, MSc, and PhD programs in Coffee Science for the first time in Ethiopia's history;
  • Recognized as an ambassador for the country's green legacy initiatives;
  • Won the Best Comprehensive University Award in Ethiopia in 2021, ranking second overall;
  • Received the Anti-Corruption Commission Award in 2021;
  • Won the People to People Rising Star Award in 2023 for exemplary leadership;
  • Enabled Bonga University to be ranked 10th among world universities by the World University Ranking Institute (WURI).
  • Achieved various awards and recognitions for exemplary accomplishments from the FDRE Prime Minister, FDRE President, from ministry of finance, from ministry of Education, from federal Audit Authority, and the Anti-Corruption Commission of Ethiopia l.
  • Developed and implemented the university's strategic plan, ensuring alignment with its mission and goals.
  • Initiated and led unique research and development projects with the potential to change the lives of society.
  • Led fundraising efforts and secured resources to support university growth and development. For instance, I have signed an MoU with the FDRE Ministry of Health, FDRE Ministry of Women, Social Affairs and the Russian Pan-African Public-Private Partnership for the construction of 2000 Midwifery Stations in Ethiopia with estimated cost $250,000,000 to be secured from the Russian government which is in process and progress.
  • Digitalized and implemented a smart campus at Bonga University.
  • Enabled Bonga University to achieve an 87% pass rate in exit exams, ranking among the top five universities of the country.
  • Enabled entrepreneurial projects estimated over 3 billion ETB in internal revenue for the university in the compound and on twelve outreach centers.
  • Led initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of primary and secondary education South West Ethiopians People Region.
  • Developed and led 17 projects focused on ensuring food security in the 12 districts of the Kaffa zone.
  • Initiated and led the construction of a rehabilitation center for 104 seniors in Bonga town, securing 22 million ETB from international and national partners.
  • Initiated and led the construction of the followings by Two Hundred and Ten Million ETB like, luxury lodge, Comercial complexs, meeting hall and shopping centers in Bonga town, primarily funded by internal revenue for income generation with ultimate goal of making Bonga university autonomous.
  • Initiated and opened Center for Let's Feed Africa, Center for Food Security, and Institute for Fruits and Vegetables, aimed at ensuring food security.
