Strategic thinker focused on delivering results through building high-performing teams and communicating visions and higher objectives with managerial courage. Over 15 years of practical and successful roles in leadership and coordination of humanitarian and development programs with different international and national non-profit organizations in different countries. Roles included regional coordinator of humanitarian crisis response and developing regional humanitarian crisis response plan with partners from different countries in East and Southern Africa; field and area office coordination with a portfolio of 8 million USD, and over 100 national and expatriate staff with overall programmatic, and operational issues including award ( grant), supply chain, safety and security, safeguarding, human resource management as well as organizational and donor representation; lead country refugee and IDP response and development of response strategic planning and executions.
Project Planning, Coordination & Design:
· Coordinate the implementation of regional HCR projects and ensure timely implementation. Follow up external and end-line evaluation, audit and project closeout.
· Coordinate the development of DKH Eastern and Southern Africa regional humanitarian crisis response plan in consultation and coordination with DKH country offices and partners
· Work closely with partner organizations in Ethiopia and with the desk of the (DKH RO) in Nairobi to provide support in planning & and designing emergency, relief, rehabilitation, and Nexus projects;
· Review in collaboration with ETH desk DKH RO and BftW program team project proposals including budget and log frame of partner organizations regarding conceptual, methodological, operational, evaluative, and financial aspects and assess against humanitarian standards;
· Follow up on the humanitarian situation in ETH to inform program and project-related decisions through attending meetings (UN Cluster, ACT, etc.) and desk reviews.
· Monitoring: Accompany and advise project partners in Ethiopia during assessments and implementation, focusing on MEAL. More concretely: support project partners in setting up MEAL plans, collecting and analysing data to measure progress against indicators, promote programmatic learning, follow up on work plans and identify and address problems, and donor compliance in implementation; Undertake frequent monitoring visits to project areas.
Reporting: Follow up on project reports, ensure timely delivery by partners and compile reports for DKH RO,
support DKH RO ETH desk in submitting a high-quality project and program-related (quarterly/annual and other) reports to DKH Head Office in Berlin (where applicable for further transmission to backdoors)
Finance: Work closely with the partner Finance staff, responsible for overall budget monitoring and analysis, financial management, & expense control for the project in line with donor rules and guidelines.
Networking & Representation: Establish close working relations with partners, BftW program team, and donors; Represent DKH in partners meetings, UN cluster system, coordination platforms, & other relevant networks
