1. Volunteering – Shows your commitment to helping others and working for a cause greater than yours

Volunteering has been a natural extension of my work in the humanitarian field. Over 8 past years, I have consistently gone beyond my official duties to support displaced populations. For instance, during emergencies or high-demand periods, I have volunteered my weekends to support distributions and verifications, ensuring no vulnerable household is left out. I have also voluntarily led awareness sessions in IDP and refugee communities on protection, dignity, and the importance of accountability mechanisms like the Complaint and Feedback Mechanism (CFM).

Additionally, I’ve mentored new staff and community volunteers, helping them understand the humanitarian principles, distribution procedures, and the importance of prioritizing the most vulnerable. These voluntary contributions have strengthened trust between humanitarian actors and communities.

For me, volunteering is not just about giving extra time it’s about upholding the humanitarian spirit and making sure every action we take respects and supports the people we serve. I truly believe in working for a cause greater than myself, and that is what keeps me committed every day.
