  • Tracked the progress of Humanitarian assistance programs/projects (ES/NFI, WASH, MHNT) and Migration assistance in the Galafi border and Semera MRC services, Refugee movement and resettlement programs in the two refugee camps in Afar, Durable solution projects in the region, Ensuring adherence to organization policies and procedures and quality interventions and managed funds in the sub office level.
  • Monitored activities of IOM Field-Office in Semera including human, financial resources, and physical assets of the organization; coordinated the procurement process at field office level in cooperation with the colleagues concerned in semera and IOM Addis Ababa.
  • Monitored the delivery of direct assistance services in the field through regular monitoring and evaluation missions including conducting monitoring surveys for response beneficiaries and providing analysis and reporting.
  • Represented IOM in relevant meetings/events with Regional Officials, UN agencies and other partners, and share updates and report to relevant main office PM and senior management for extra support.
  • With the Coordination of Protection unit conducted regular field visits to the Emergency Migration Response Center (EMRC), assessed conditions and needs for direct assistance to vulnerable population including stranded migrants, victims of trafficking, collect information on vulnerability assessments and displacement, provide relevant information and suggestions to IOM Addis Ababa.
  • Work closely with UN agencies (UNHCR, UNICEF, WFP, UNDP, WHO, FAO), Refugee and Returnee affairs/RSS and regional governments like DRM, RHB, bureau of Labor and Skill, BOWSA, Bureau of water and irrigation, Bureau of Justice and other relevant local authorities in assisting emergencies response and refugee resettlement movements, Migration support and Durable Solution for IDPS and returnees.
  • Coordinated the transportation of 20,000 Refugees relocation from Berahle to Serdo and Semera town at the time of norther crisis as these refugees affected by the conflict and facilitated and collaborated with other partners for refugees returnee to their place of original camp/Barahle.
  • Worked with the project support team in the mission, shared project ideas and assessment reports to identify new project/s opportunities for IOM assistance in the region.
  • Monitored and identify issues requiring advocacy for mobilizing funds and resources to regional government and IDPS, returnees and migrants to address identified gaps and escalated such issues to the National Cluster and the Humanitarian Country Team.
  • Promoted the attention to vulnerable groups and cross-cutting issues, including establishing context-specific beneficiary targeting criteria, context-specific monitoring tools, and Accountability to Affected Population strategy.
  • Established and maintained regular meeting schedule with regional authorities on challenges and Gaps, monitor progress and avoid overlaps of project activities within all relevant cluster members active in their respective areas; organized ad-hoc meetings.
  • Led ES/NFI, CCCM Cluster/s and Durable Solution Working Group (DSWG) coordination at the region level, designing the regional (context-specific) response plans and assessing needs and gaps with frequent field travel from a base in Semera.
